Nephelium has gifted us great sight, but it has also afforded humanity the means to build new and fantastic ships and outposts. Their Nephelium cores create artificial gravity, whereby sailors can stand and walk as if on the ground, and this gravity can also maintain a livable atmosphere in a bubble around the ship itself, allowing these same crews to stand above decks like sailors on the seas of old. Nephelium also powers the Kubern Modules, that link between ship and pilot, that fuses the two into a single mind. Some say that the Kuberns hallucinate their ships as great winged beasts as they fly through the Conflux, or as seaborne leviathans generating vast wakes in space. But we know what they do not: when a Kubern’s blood becomes enriched with Nephelium, it is not a mirage he sees, but an oasis.
