A pilgrimage in the Conflux can only be undertaken with the assistance of strangers, and a working knowledge of the ordinary citizen of the Conflux is paramount to the success and safety of the Pilgrim. The first and most important concept to keep in mind is that the people of the Conflux are as varied as the stars in the sky. From the poorest sharecroppers of the Cadfall badlands to the great merchants of the night market on Ranweth, you will find humans occupying every walk of life. Most descend from those who came to the Conflux with dreams of colony and profit, and still endeavor to make those dreams a reality. These are the great majority, the peaceful people of the Conflux; their labor is the fuel that powers the engines of industry and progress. We would not survive without them. But there are many others, from whom life and circumstances have extracted untold miseries, and they become base, cruel, violent. Knowing which is which is crucial to your safety, as we will endeavor to show you.
